I did it! It may have taken awhile, but I did it!

Do you choose a word of the year? Last year was the first time I did. It took me a little longer to choose one for this year, but I finally did.

I have finally chosen my word for the year. It took awhile, but after a lot of thought and soul searching, I finally decided on my word of the  year. Action!

The Google dictionary defines action as the fact or process of doing something, typically to achieve an aim. That is my word of the year: ACTION!

Last year I chose the word determination to be my word of the year. I was determined to learn more about the blogging process, start posting more on the blog and I was determined to get myself in gear to get things done, in various aspects of my life.

I had previously wrote about the things I wanted to accomplish. This was my very first post and was inspired by Simply Nicole’s post, 101 things to do in 1001 Days. I sat down and wrote out my 101 things that I wanted to accomplish in 1001 days. Throughout that time I was able to do several of the things on my as you can see by the updates. Although I did do several things and was able to mark them off the list, most of those items were completed because they just fell into place, not because I actually set my sites on getting them done. To see the post with my list click here.

My determination year did help me learn a lot of the nuts and bolts of blogging. I still have a lot more to learn yet. It will be an  ongoing and never-ending process.  Therefore, I have chosen action as my word of the year. I am planning on putting all those things I have learned and put them into action.

This year I have been hard at work developing a working schedule for my blog and myself. I am hoping to post on Mondays and have recently began Wordless Wednesdays. This will be a day where I post various pictures of random things that have went on in my life during the past week. I hope you, my readers, will also share pictures of your lives during the last week.

I have finished the Affiliate Marketing Course and have chosen a handful more to take to help me with my writing and out put on the blog. Also, I have a list of books to read for the purposes of blogging, finance, self help, and pleasure. I have always been a reader, but due to the business of my life, I have shoved this on a back burner. No longer, I am putting this as a priority on my action list.

I enjoy cooking and trying new recipes, but as with reading, I have managed to cook meals for my family, but seldom try new recipes. Just today, I bought the items for 3 new dishes. I actually bought a cooking wine which I have never cooked with before. I’m really excited to try this recipe.

I have the rose one that matches my pink crafting room.

For Christmas my husband bought me a Cricut Explore Air 2. I have several projects in mind as soon as I figure out how to really use it. I have watched one you-tube video so far and am planning on watching more to help me learn and up my productivity.  More action to accomplish.

This is a shorten overview of the things I am planning on working on during this next year.  The things I am planning on putting into action. My expiring 101 Things to Do in 1001 Days can be seen by clicking here. I will be posting my new list next week. There will probably be some things that are the same, but there will be several new ideas I want to put into Action.

What is your word of the year?

2017 Finished, 2018 Planned

This post may contain affiliate links which may pay me a small commission. All thoughts are my own.

Here it is almost the end of January and I haven’t put up a single post in quite some time. Sorry readers!

It’s not that I haven’t thought about the blog. or different things I want to implement this coming year. Like many people, I have trouble organizing my time to get everything accomplished that I want to get accomplished. I have ordered a new planner that should be here within the week. I can’t wait to get it and share it with you. What planner do you use? Do you use digital or paper or both?

It is during this time of the year that I do most of my “spring cleaning.” I take those snow and cold days when I’m off from my teaching job and can’t get outside to clean out cabinets, closets, etc. So far I have managed to clean out the storage closet in the hallway and have almost completed deep cleaning the kitchen. With little ones running around all the time it is hard to devote one whole day or more to just one room.

I also enjoy using these days to cook more. Just last night I made a mandarin orange cake with pineapple whipped cream frosting. It was a big hit with everyone.

You can find the recipe by clicking here.

Starting on Wednesday, February 7(Next week folks!) I am starting a series called Wordless Wednesday. I will be posting pictures of some of the activities that have taken place in my world. I hope you will share some of your life in pictures with me and other readers.

What have you been working on in your crafting life? For Christmas I made several gifts and have more things planned and in progress.

Currently I am working on necklaces like I made for Christmas and a burlap sunflower wreath for my daughter. However, I have more projects planned. Two of my grandsons have birthdays in February. For the younger one, I am going to make a diaper bag to match the Mickey Mouse blanket I made him for Christmas. I didn’t get these items made when he was born, so his mother stills wants him to have a set like two older one do.

I have the rose one that matches my pink crafting room.

How many of you own a Cricut? My husband bought me one for Christmas and I am attempting to learn how to use it. My first project is to make an iron-on for some pillow shams for my bed. After a lot of failed attempts, I think I finally got this first one ready to cut out. Hopefully, I will get that done before long and have a picture to go along with it.

One piece of advice: If you are planning on purchasing a Cricut, get the bundle so you will have the  tools you need to go complete various projects. Click here if you are planning on purchasing one. Need I say more.

My daughter and I are planning to participate in our first vendor’s show in April. We thought holding off until then would give it plenty of time to get enough items made before the event. She is doing much better than I am getting things ready.

As far as the blog goes, I recently completed the Affiliate Marketing Course. It has given me several ideas on how to better monetize the blog. Time will tell how well I learned the lessons.

I have also been invited to join the local Writer’s Guild. I haven’t been to the first meeting yet, but I’m really excited to get started. More on that when I actually get started.

I am currently working on some goals to incorporate into my blog during this next year. I am taking a note from Natalie Bacon’s series of 2017 posts entitled “A Final Note”. (At the end of each month she posted her progress in several different categories of her life which included, but was not limited to, her blog. As I update my “101 Things to Accomplish in 1001 Days (inspired by SimplyNicole) , I plan on using categories like she did. Sadly, she finished this series and is no longer writing these posts. I really liked reading these.

I will be posting shortly my new goals. Don’t miss it. What are your top goals for 2018?

My life verse.

Two More Completed

ocalicon_2015

The week before Thanksgiving I attended the Ocalicon conference in Columbus, Ohio. This was the third consecutive year that I have went to this conference.

RcdRLjKeiAlthough the main focus for this conference is autism, I have continually been able to bring back new ideas and knowledge for all of the students in my special education classroom.

The past two years I have went by myself, but  this year my oldest daughter, who is a Licensed Worker, also attended. The three days we were there were filled with workshops and speakers for both of us. She was able to earn CEU’s in her field as was I. (Her picture is to the right.)

My favorite part of the conference is learning about new technology that can be used in the classroom, especially the use of IPads.

This conference allowed me to check off number 29 on my list of 101 things to do in 1001 days.

Merry Christmas

I also recently marked off number 92 on my list. I have been working on my husband’s family history for two years. I purchased a nice leather bound family history book for him as my Christmas present to him this year. I can’t wait until he opens it.
