As many of you may remember, I began writing the story of my daughter’s recovery from drug addiction. Recently she was invited by the local university to appear on their cable station to discuss her recovery process. This is after the appearance of her sister who was on the same show to discuss how families cope with a loved one who is an addict.
Because I knew Saturday and Sunday were going to be busy, I relaxed Friday after work. I really don’t do that often.
Early Saturday morning found me searching frantically for Shyla’s baton uniform. I had it hanging in her closet. After 20 minutes of searching I found it under the bunk beds in her brothers’ room. I have no idea how it got there. But, despite the lost uniform, my group of travelers arrived at their destination on time, which was a 3 hour drive.
Next on my agenda was to finish painting my bedroom. I only had about 1/4 of the room to complete which I did. After the painting was finish and the painting tools were cleaned, I took a bucket of Mr. Clean water and cleaned the top of the dressers and the bed. My dressers are very tall as is the headboard of my bed so I have to have the painting ladder to reach the top of the furniture. I also cleaned the fan. My bedroom has been spring cleaned. On to the rest of the house.
We took turns going to see play this weekend. His mother and our oldest daughter with her family, went to watch him perform Friday evening. Saturday, my husband went to the afternoon performance.
The others had gone on the baton trip to an amusement park.
I went on Saturday evening. For the final performance, my husband and I went and took Dylan’s two siblings. Zayden could not sit still so papa took him and went back home.
After the final performance Sunday afternoon, Dylan, Shyla, and I stopped to buy flowers for my mother-in-law and myself. We took them home and had about 1/2 hour at home before we left to attend the cast party. It was held in the pavilion at the art colony. The weather was perfect and all the kids really enjoyed themselves. Pizza, cupcakes and ice cream was served and prizes were given out.
Dylan won 4 tickets to a Cinncinatti Red’s baseball game. He was beside himself with excitement.
Mom showed up from work and took the kids with her while my husband and I ran to complete some errands.
Later that evening my girls showed up at the house with a beautiful climbing flower and trellis for me.
