Weekend Recap – March 16, 2018

Spread the love

Boy, was it a fun filled weekend at our house Friday and Saturday.

It began with Integrity Ball sign-ups on Friday evening.  Of course, Dylan and Shyla want to add yet another activity to my ever-growing list. My planner in bursting at the seams.

For those who do not know about Integrity Ball, it is usually sponsored through a local church and in our case is available for kids 4 through 12/17 years of age. It depends on the number of kids signing up what age brackets while be available.

I chose to let them sign up through this avenue instead of the traditional school teams for a couple of different reasons.

  1. I am not 100% sure they are going to like playing. They both played when they were much  younger. Dylan hated it then. Shyla has asked in the past when she would get to play again.
  2. The kids are already involved in other extracurricular activities and this is just one more that I have to
Do you ever feel like an unpaid taxi service?

transport them to.  If they had signed up through the school, the places the teams played would be all over the county. With Integrity Ball, all games will be played at our church which is only about 5 miles down the road.

So they are now signed up for ball.

Saturday morning I got up early and ran to town to purchase items for Dylan’s 12th birthday party. He had requested homemade mac & cheese. I bought enough ingredients to make 2 large pans of it.

I also purchased 2 boxes of mini corn dogs to go with it. That meal proved to go over well.

Then of course, we had cupcakes and ice cream for dessert. After all, it was a birthday party.

The kids played with Nerf guns while it was light enough outside and then the boys came in to play games on the Xbox. It was actually a pretty frugal party.

Two of the boys spent the night, so I got up to make a breakfast for them and the rest of the family. I usually don’t make large breakfasts on Sunday morning.

We had scrambled eggs, waffles, sausage, and toast. Our guests went home with well fed stomachs.

So as usual after a party, especially one with a horde of pre-teen boys, the rest of the weekend was spent cleaning up and doing laundry.

What was  your past weekend like?
